A man was frustrated to learn that a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight he booked was actually operated by budget carrier Scoot.

Stomper Tajdeen shared a screenshot of his booking.

"This was how the ticket was issued," said the Stomper.

"They used SQ8504, but on the ticket, they put it as operated by Scoot, which not many would look into, as normally they would associate SQ with an SIA plane.

"The website where I booked showed the SIA logo and I was excited about the low price of the ticket and booked the flight.

"It was only after I paid that I realised that the flight going from Singapore to Hong Kong was using Scoot.

"They should not use this SIA logo to attract people and give the wrong impression even though when you book, they have Scoot info but with a small icon which people may not notice."

Last week, Stomp reported that a man regretted booking an SIA flight operated by Scoot after calculating that he could have saved more than $1,000 if he had booked the flight separately.

Last year, a woman said she felt cheated after discovering a flight she booked on the SIA website was operated by Scoot.

In response to a Stomp query regarding her case, an SIA spokesman said then that the airline sells flights operated by its codeshare partners on its booking platforms.

"SIA’s codeshare partnerships with 31 airlines, including Scoot, offer our customers access to a wider network beyond those operated directly by the airline," said the spokesman.

"When a customer books a flight on the SIA website and mobile app, the operating carrier is indicated on the booking page for each flight."

Scoot is owned by SIA.

Tajdeen said: "I feel that I have been kind of cheated too. Perhaps Stomp could bring this frustration of passengers to SIA and stop them from using such tactics to deceive people.

"Thanks once again for your articles as they bring a kind of satisfaction after my disappointment with SIA and their ticket-selling method that is not so professional to the outside world."
