Marsiling-Yew Tee Town Council (MYTTC) has responded to a man's complaints about persistent litter in the estate and their alleged failure to clean up in a timely manner.

Stomper Tong Fong shared the issue of persistent littering from Block 301 to Block 306 Woodlands Street 31 and alleged that cleaners had failed to clean the area enough.

Photos he took on Feb 22 (Thursday evening) and Feb 25 (Sunday late morning) show uncleared trash and overflowing dustbins at various locations.

In a rant titled 'Sloppy Work by Marsiling-Yew Tee Town Council', Tong Fong said: "Despite providing feedback twice to the town council and speaking to the officer-in-charge, the littering still persists and is not cleared in a timely manner or according to the stipulated cleaning schedule.

"Please retrieve the phone records which show that I called the Essential Maintenance Service Unit (EMSU) on Feb 21 and Feb 22 at around 6.30pm, to give feedback about the overflowing bins and cleaners' failure to do a second round of cleaning in the evenings.

"I also spoke to the officer-in-charge over the phone on Feb 23 to ensure that cleaners comply with the cleaning schedule, but was disappointed to observe in the late morning of Feb 25 that they did not clear Feb 24's litter.

"From my observation, the town council cleaners have failed to clean the area twice daily in the evenings and on Sundays.

"The bins cannot be full by the late morning if they had been emptied in the early morning. This clearly shows that the cleaners didn't work on the morning of Feb 25 when they were supposed to. There is a laspe that needs to be investigated.

"This is not an isolated case and is happening in all the housing estates managed by the town council.

"This has prompted me to feedback to Stomp about the sloppy work by MYTTC. Please expose how the town council is running our estate.

"I hope this report is a wake up call for the authorities to conduct checks and take the town council to task."

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesman for MYTTC said: "It is important to note that our cleaners follow a fixed daily cleaning schedule to cover the entire estate.

"At the same time, the town council works closely with the National Environment Agency (NEA) on educating and reminding residents to practise considerate behaviour.

"Residents are encouraged to properly dispose their refuse into the available bins located around the estate area.

"For matters that require urgent assistance, residents may contact our 24/7 EMSU hotline: 1800 275 5555."
