What was supposed to be an enjoyable meal for a woman nearly turned fatal after she found glass in her food.

The incident occurred on March 6, at around 2pm.

Stomper Jaazy said she ordered beef hotplate rice from Ha-Jun Korean (One North) via GrabFood and did self-pickup.

She recounted: "I almost swallowed a glass shard in my rice. I had bitten into it and was wondering what it was, then spat it out.

"There was no way of contacting the stall as there was no number or email online. I informed GrabFood but did not hear back from them."

Jaazy, who reported the incident to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), added: "I feel traumatised because it could have been serious or even fatal."

In response to a Stomp query, SFA said it is looking into the matter.

"Food safety is a joint responsibility," SFA added.

"While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices. Food operators should also ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained.

"Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via the online feedback form.

SFA takes a serious view towards food safety and will investigate all feedback alleging poor food safety practices.

"As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained."
