Woman says someone grabbed her right thigh at S'pore F1, fight ensued: 2 men to be charged

Two men, aged 36 and 37, will be charged in court on Monday (Nov 6) with offences in relation to a case of outrage of modesty during the second day of this year's F1 Singapore Grand Prix.

Both men are known to each other, said the police in a statement released on Sunday.

The police said on Sept 16, officers were patrolling along Connaught Drive when they came across a dispute between the 37-year-old and and another man, Bryan Yap, 25.

It was established that the 36-year-old man had allegedly molested a woman, Karen Beh, 20.

She said in a TikTok video that the man grabbed her right thigh.

Her sister Kaci, 24, and Kaci's boyfriend Bryan confronted the man before getting shoved to the ground by the 37-year-old man, who allegedly punched Bryan multiple times.

The police said the 37-year-old man allegedly got into a fight with Bryan and pushed Kaci during a scuffle.

“It all happened so fast, and I did not know what to do,” Karen told The Straits Times.

The 36-year-old man will be charged with one count of outrage of modesty, which carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments.

The 37-year-old man will be charged with one count of criminal force, one count of voluntarily causing hurt and one count of affray. 

The offence of criminal force carries an imprisonment term of up to 3 months, or a fine of up to $1,500, or both.

The offence of voluntarily causing hurt carries an imprisonment term of up to 3 years, or with fine of up to $5,000, or both. The offence of affray carries an imprisonment term of up to one year, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
