Taxi catches fire on PIE

A taxi caught on fire along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) near the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) exit yesterday (Apr 24) at around 11.30pm.

In a video provided by Stomper Matt, a red Trans-Cab is seen with its bonnet engulfed in flames.

A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman told Stomp that it was alerted to the fire at about 11.30pm.

The fire was extinguished by the SCDF using two compressed air foam backpacks and a water jet.

There were no reported injuries.
