The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is looking into an incident involving a vegetarian food stallholder who prepared food on the ground behind a Jurong coffee shop.

Stomper Muskaway expressed hygiene concerns after witnessing the incident at Block 132 Jurong Gateway Road on Saturday (Sept 30), at around 7.24am.

He told Stomp: "This stallholder from Heaven’s Grace Vegetarian Point was preparing food on the floor at the back of the coffee shop."

Photos taken by the Stomper show a basket of ingredients placed on a wet pavement.

Musakway said he did not lodge a report with SFA, but asked Stomp to "kindly address this issue on my behalf".

In response to a Stomp query, SFA said it is is looking into the matter and added: "Food safety is a joint responsibility.

"While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices. Food operators should also ensure that their premises are clean and well-maintained.

"Members of the public who come across any potentially errant food operator should report to SFA via the online feedback form.

"SFA takes a serious view towards food safety and will investigate all feedback alleging poor food safety practices.

"As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained."
