Orchard Road KTV lounge raided, 95 women and 2 men arrested for vice-related activities

Ninety-five women and two men aged between 18 and 45 were arrested for their suspected involvement in vice-related activities at a KTV lounge in Orchard Road on Friday (Oct 6), said the police.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and Immigration and Checkpoints Authority conducted an enforcement operation on the premises and arrested the women and a 20-year-old man for allegedly managing a place of assignation under the Women’s Charter 1961.

A place of assignation is any place where communication is established with any woman or girl, either directly or through an intermediary, for any immoral purpose.

Another 31-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement of living wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person.

Investigations are ongoing.

Any person who keeps, manages or assists in the management of a place of assignation, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $100,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or to both.

Where the person is a repeat offender, he will be liable on conviction, to a fine not exceeding $150,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding seven years, or both.

Any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of a woman or girl shall be guilty of an offence and shall be punished on conviction with imprisonment for a term not exceeding seven years and shall also be liable to a fine not exceeding $100,000.

Where the person is a repeat offender, he shall be liable on conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years and shall also be liable to a fine not exceeding $150,000.
