Fast food chain Mos Burger is investigating an incident in which a man fell ill after consuming a mouldy burger at its White Sands outlet.

Stomper Fatherof2 said he bought fish burgers for his son and himself on March 14, at around 12.30pm.

He recounted: "The burgers were served cold and upon checking my son's burger, I realised there was mould on the bread."

A photo taken by the Stomper shows greyish marks on the bun of a fish burger,

Fatherof2 added: "The staff were not apologetic and did not apologise even when giving us a replacement of two fish burgers.

"Food safety is important, especially when kids are eating.

"I had food poisoning at night. My son was okay as he did not eat the affected burger."

Fatherof2 described his experience as "lousy" and said he reported the incident to the Singapore Food Agency.

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for MOS Foods Singapore said: "We are aware of the case and are actively investigating the reported case.

"We are also working closely with the relevant authorities to determine the root case of the incident and to implement immediate measures to prevent any further occurrences."

Mos Burger has also reached out to the customer to follow up on his well-being, said the spokesperson, adding: "Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our customers.

"We place high importance on maintaining good hygiene standards in our restaurants and would like to assure that this is an isolated incident.

"We will continue to enhance our checking on the food quality and to maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in our restaurants."
