More than 1,900 youths compete for the crown at Delta League Grand Finals

The Delta League Grand Finals was held at Our Tampines Hub by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) on Dec 21.

Mr Melvin Yong, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar Group Representative Constituency and Special Advisor to Delta League, graced the event as the guest of honour.

Now in its 18th edition, Delta League is a national competition involving over 1,900 players from more than 100 teams competing in three different age groups: Under-15 Boys’, Under 17 Boys’ and Girls’ Open categories.

Held twice a year during the June and December school holidays, the football tournament aims to keep the youths meaningfully occupied during the long school holidays.

Besides playing football, the youths were put through other meaningful activities designed to enhance their crime prevention awareness and inculcate a sense of social responsibility, teamwork and discipline.

In this edition, the youths were involved in the production of videos to educate others on scams and dangers of gangs.

The winning entries were screened during the Grand Finals and can also be viewed on Delta League's Facebook page.

"Delta League will continue with its runs in engaging youths in 2020," said the SPF in a news release.
