A man was allegedly spotted tapping water illegally in the void deck of a Serangoon block last month.

Stomper Heng shared a photo of the man in the void deck with splattered on the floor around him on Oct 30.

"A resident from Block 4 Lorong Lew Lian has been openly collecting water from the HDB void deck water tap in the presence of other residents," said the Stomper.

"The water tap has been locked, according to the town council. Besides collecting water daily from there, he spilled the water all over the floor as well because he didn’t have to pay for it.

"Strange thing…where can he get the key from? Smart guy!"

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for the Marine Parade Town Council said: "We are aware of the incidents involving unauthorised tapping of water at Block 4 Lorong Lew Lian.

"We would like to take this opportunity to highlight that such an act is strictly prohibited. Enforcement action may be taken against anyone caught tapping the water illegally.

"The town council noticed that the lock was unlocked on Nov 2 upon checking and has locked it again. To prevent such incidents from happening, the town council will ensure that the tap remains locked at all times and will keep a close watch on the area.

"We will also step up our effort to remind members of the public not to tap the water illegally. Should anyone spot such an act, please report it immediately to the town council at 1800-241 6487 or 1800-287 6530."
