Indian worker warded for Covid-19 dies from injuries after being found at staircase landing of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital

A 46-year-old man was found lying motionless at a staircase landing at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital on Thursday morning (Apr 23) and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

The police said they were alerted to a case of unnatural death at the hospital at 7.29am.

They added in a statement: "A 46-year-old male Indian national was found lying motionless at a staircase landing of the said location and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

"Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play."

The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed that the man was a coronavirus patient. He was a construction worker and had worked for the same employer since September 2009.

The Straits Times understands he did not die from causes related to Covid-19 infection.

"Background checks do not reveal any complaints against the employer," the ministry added.

Police investigations are ongoing.
