The flier has the words “Fight The Bite” prominently at the top.

It also asks you scan a QR code to redeem a "free dengue lamp".

Stomper Anonymous wants to know whether it is a scam.

Stomper Michaell warned: "If you receive this flier, DO NOT SCAN the QR code.

"The National Environment Agency (NEA) confirms they did not distribute it."

On Wednesday (Oct 25), NEA posted on Facebook: "DO NOT scan unknown QR codes or access links on flyers or other unsolicited material from suspicious sources!

"We were again alerted that some residents continue to receive fliers about the redemption of a free dengue lamp, and would like to reiterate that these flyers are NOT from NEA."

The agency had posted virtually the same thing 12 days earlier on Facebook.

On Oct 13, The Straits Times reported the Monetary Authority of Singapore were urging the public not to respond to suspicious advertisements after anonymous fliers offering free anti-mosquito lamps were found by residents of Ang Mo Kio Street 21 slotted through their gates last month.

The catch was that you had to meet a financial adviser before redeeming their lamp, which was not apparent until you scanned a QR code leading them to a website where they had to enter personal details, including their name, address, phone number and e-mail.

One resident told The Straits Times he scanned the QR code and saw the prompts for his personal details.

In the fine print, he read that applicants would have their contact details shared with “associated third parties” so that a financial services consultant could conduct a 20-minute sharing session with them before they receive the lamp.

The website did not state which company the consultants are from but said that the personal information was being collected by “The K Marketing Pte Ltd’, although contact details of the company could not be found online.
