A fire broke out in a bedroom of a 13th-floor unit at Block 672C Yishun Avenue 4 in the wee hours of Wednesday (Mar 22).

Stomper Mikio shared with Stomp photos and videos he took of the fire and said he spotted it as he was returning home from 7-Eleven at about 2.30am.

"I straight away called SCDF," he said.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the fire at about 2.25am.

"The fire involved the contents of a bedroom in a unit on the 13th floor," an SCDF spokesman said.

"SCDF extinguished the fire using a water jet.

"About 50 occupants from the affected block were evacuated by police."

SCDF added that it assessed three people for minor injuries and they refused to be taken to hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Mr Luqman Afiq, the owner of the affected unit, posted photos on Instagram of the damages caused by the fire.

Soot covered most of the home and almost everything in the bedroom was destroyed.

He wrote: "A day before Ramadan.

"My house caught fire at 2am this morning.

"My wife and son are fine.

"Please pray for the best for me and my family."
