Driver and passenger taken to hospital after lorry rolls onto side along Bartley Road East

A lorry driver and his passenger were taken to hospital after a lorry rolled onto its side along Bartley Road East on Tuesday (Aug 27). 

A photo of the incident shows that the front of the lorry is dented while its contents have fallen onto the road.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said: "On Tuesday (Aug 27) at 10.50am, the police were alerted to an accident involving a lorry and a car along Bartley Road East, slip road into Upper Paya Lebar Road.

"The lorry driver, a 64-year-old man, and passenger, a 27-year-old man, were conscious when conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

"Police investigations are ongoing."

The Land Transport Authority also published five updates on their Twitter feed between 11.07am and 12.18pm, informing readers about an accident along Bartley Road and to avoid the right lane. 

According to Lianhe Zaobao, about 20 metres of the road was still closed off at 1pm.

Zaobao also reported that the lorry is believed to have rolled over after it lost control in trying to avoid a car.

They also mentioned that the hospital was notified to be on standby as the Chinese driver and Indian passenger had suffered injuries to their spines and were in critical condition.
