Driver, 77, crashes Audi into Sims Drive senior citizens' corner after accidentally stepping on accelerator

A 77-year-old driver was taken to hospital after crashing his Audi into a void deck in Sims Drive on Friday (Apr 14).

According to Shin Min Daily News, the elderly driver had smashed through a wooden door and into the Kolam Ayer Senior Citizens Corner. The car had also hit a parked motorcycle during the accident.

The Audi driver is believed to have stepped on the accelerator by mistake, reported Shin Min.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to an accident involving a car and a stationary motorcycle at Block 44 Sims Drive at 11.20am.

"A 77-year-old male car driver was conveyed conscious to the hospital," they added.

A resident at the block told Shin Min: "I saw an uncle and an auntie exiting the Audi. The man didn't seem to be seriously injured, but he just looked unhappy."

Police investigations are ongoing.
