Digital lock company gives $2k reward for stolen van, 18-year-old culprit arrested

An 18-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing a company's van from North Point BizHub.

An employee alerted Stomp to My Digital Lock's appeal to find the van and the culprit.

In a Facebook post on Monday (May 24) at 12.05pm, the company said the van was stolen at 10.15pm on Sunday (May 23) after two suspects 'hacked' the van and drove away with it.

A police report was made and the company also said it would be giving a $2,000 reward to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the stolen van and the person who took it.

The post added: "I thought only Malaysia will get vehicle stolen, but it happen in Singapore."

Within a day, the company posted an update at 6.36pm that they had recovered the van thanks to a "brave warrior".

They also shared a photo showing a bank transaction of $2,000.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to a case of theft of vehicle at 2 Yishun Industrial Street 1 at 9.07am on Monday.

"An 18-year-old man was subsequently arrested in relation to the case," a police spokesman said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
