Cyclists enter KPE tunnel even though it's illegal

A pair of cyclists were caught on video entering a tunnel along the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) on Tuesday (June 20)

Footage of the incident was posted on SG Road Vigilante's Facebook page.

In the video, the cyclists enter the tunnel and continue to cycle along the road shoulder.

While cyclists are allowed on roads, it is illegal for them to ride on expressways and in road tunnels.

Cyclists caught flouting traffic rules will have to pay a $150 fine.

For more serious cases, a cyclist may be charged in court and fined up to $1,000 as well as jailed for up to three months for the first offence.

Repeat offenders can be fined up to $2,000 and/or jailed for up to six months.
