Car driver abruptly stops along CTE -- allegedly to find cashcard for ERP

A driver was caught on camera suddenly stopping his car on the rightmost lane of the Central Expressway (CTE).

The incident occurred near the Upper Serangoon Road exit on Tuesday (Nov 13), at around 7am.

According to ROADS.sg and SG Road Vigilante, which uploaded a video of the incident, the driver had stopped to find and insert his cashcard before passing through an Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) gantry that was up ahead.

In the video, a Volkswagen driver can be seen braking in order to avoid a collision with the black car that had stopped.

ROADS.sg also said in its caption: "Coming to a full stop just to find your cashcard for the ERP is NOT acceptable. You could have caused a chain collision and injured motorcyclists."

Correction note: An earlier version of this article misidentified the car that stopped.
