A resident was driving out of an open-air HDB carpark in Bukit Batok Street 11 just as another car turned into the carpark, causing both to come to a stop, apparently unable to go past each other.

Sharing a dash cam video of the incident, Stomper Melvin said it happened on March 10 at about 6pm.

He told Stomp: "I want to share with you this incident where a two-lane road became one-lane due to this idiotic parent of kids from Princess Elizabeth Primary School driving this car in the middle of the road."

In the video, the Stomper can be heard saying to the other car: "Go in front there a bit lah."

The other driver rolled down his window and the Stomper shouted at him to go to the right.

"Stupid or what," added the Stomper. "Come and fetch your kid you drive like that ah?"

The other driver can be heard saying: "What are you talking about?"

The Stomper told the driver to keep more to the right before correcting himself: "To the left. There's so much space there to the left. Use your brain."

The other driver said: "But I cannot move over here."

The two cars eventually managed to get past each other.

The Stomper muttered under his breath: "Stupid lah you."

He told Stomp that this has happened before with the same driver who liked to drive in the middle of the road.

This is not the first time that Stomp has reported about a resident unhappy with parents of pupils from Princess Elizabeth Primary School driving into this carpark.

Last month, Stomp reported that residents were frustrated by the traffic congestion in the carpark caused by the parents driving there to drop off and pick up their kids at the school almost every day.

In response to a Stomp query, the school and HDB released a joint statement: "Princess Elizabeth Primary School (PEPS) and HDB are aware of the congestion at Carpark U7 Bukit Batok Street 11 during school arrival (between 7.00 am and 7.30 am) and school dismissal (between 1.15 pm and 1.45 pm).

"The school has been communicating with parents to remind them on the responsible use of the public carpark and will continue to do so, including highlighting to parents on the penalties for breaching parking regulations.

"Since receiving the feedback, HDB has stepped up enforcement efforts. HDB will also install signages at Carpark U7 to remind motorists not to park or wait along the driveway. PEPS and the respective agencies are committed to work closely together to minimise inconveniences to the residents at Bukit Batok West."
