A coach driver was arrested after closing the door on an alighting passenger and causing her to fall.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the case at Woodlands Checkpoint on Dec 12 at about 7.30pm.

The 44-year-old driver was arrested for a negligent act causing hurt.

Stomper Candy, who was the passenger, was conscious when taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH).

She told Stomp: "I booked a Transtar coach which threw me off the bus as the driver closed the auto door while I was halfway alighting."

Her 10-year-old daughter was still on the coach.

"He reopened the door so my daughter ran out of the bus to help me up," said the Stomper.

"Because the coach drove off, my girl only managed to take this photo."

The Stomper also posted about the incident in the Facebook group Complaint Singapore.

In the post, she wrote: "We were the last to be using the back door. I was trying to move my luggage down. Before I could even take my last two steps down, he closed the auto door.

"My upper arm was squeezed and I dropped off the luggage and tried to make my step down.

"And he actually drove and I rolled off the bus (no joke – coach bus has huge tyres)...

"I was in pain and saw that my girl was wailing and asking please help my mother – why you drive off when she and I haven't come down.

"My heart broke that my girl had to deal with an unhelpful and irresponsible adult and I was helpless and almost crawling.

"The driver shouted, 'You all get out already. Why I cannot move! Not my problem.'

"We were shocked."

She told Stomp about her injuries: "I landed on my left, hit my head and neck too. Shoulder and neck are still so painful to move. Bruises and scrapes on both shins. One of my legs is so painful to step on the ground.

"My tailbone and spine are still hurting a lot, despite KTPH mentioning just vaguely no broken bones and giving me three days' MC. I will be seeking a second opinion because now everywhere feels so sore."

Police investigations are ongoing.
