7 people lose $27k to phishing scam after searching for Domino's Pizza online and clicking on fake ad

Seven people have lost around $27,000 to a new phishing scam involving fake Domino’s Pizza websites between Nov 25 and Dec 6, said the police.

In these cases, the victims searched for “Domino’s Pizza” online and clicked on an advertisement in the search results, leading them to phishing websites resembling the genuine article, bearing similar URLs and website design.

The victims would place an order through the phishing websites and disclose their credit card details to make payment.

They would realise that they had been scammed after they were notified or discovered unauthorised card transactions made on their debit or credit cards.
