39-year-old man arrested after speeding off and running over police officer's foot

A 39-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of rash act causing hurt.

The police said in a statement that they were alerted to a case in which a car was found stationary in the middle of the road on Mar 2 at about 6.35am.

A man was seen unresponsive inside the car.

During an engagement with the police, the man then allegedly started the car's engine and sped off. In doing so, the car ran over a police officer's left foot.

Police officers from Tanglin Police Division identified the man and arrested him on Mar 4.

He will be charged in court on Mar 5 for the offence of rash act causing hurt which carries a jail term of up to one year, or a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
