3,300 cartons of illegal cigarettes found among sacks of flour on lorry at Woodlands Checkpoint

Aren't cigarettes supposed to be gluten-free?

A lorry was found to be carrying 3,300 cartons of illegal cigarettes hidden among sacks of flour at Woodlands Checkpoint on July 11.

The attempt to smuggle the duty-unpaid cigarettes into Singapore hidden within the consignment of wheat flour was foiled by officers from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

The Malaysia-registered lorry was directed for enhanced checks and the cigarettes were uncovered, said ICA in a Facebook post on Friday (July 21).

ICA even made a dad joke about not making "dough" from cigarettes and wheat.

The case was referred to Singapore Customs for further investigation.
