25 people arrested in raid of illegal gambling den in Sembawang, almost $20,000 in cash seized

Thirteen men and 12 women, aged between 31 and 76, were arrested for their suspected involvement in illegal gambling activities in Sembawang on Thursday (July 20).

Among them, a 39-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman were found to have allegedly acted as a gaming service provider to 23 people at the Gambas Crescent industrial premises.

Cash amounting to $19,752, 11 handphones and gaming-related paraphernalia were seized during the operation as case exhibits.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The operation was conducted by officers from the Woodlands Police Division.

Anyone found to be involved in unlawful gaming or betting operations shall be liable on conviction to a fine of up to $200,000 and shall also be punished with imprisonment for a term of up to five years.

Anyone who gambles with an unlawful gambling service provider shall be liable on conviction to a fine of up to $10,000, imprisonment for a term of up to six months, or both.
