19-year-old man arrested for $160k theft of luxury watches, jewellery, collectible notes and more

A 19-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday (Aug 15) for his suspected involvement in two separate cases of theft along Jalan Paras in Kembangan.

The police said they were alerted to two cases of theft in dwelling on July 12 and July 28, where items such as keys, luxury watches, jewelleries, foreign currencies and collectible Singapore Dollar notes were stolen from a residential unit along Jalan Paras.

The losses are estimated to amount to $160,000.

Through follow-up investigations and ground enquires, the police established the man's identity and arrested him.

"Collectible Singapore Dollar notes, two keys, two gold rings, as well as alleged proceeds from the crimes including a pair of branded heels and a luxury bag were seized as case exhibits," police added.

The man will be charged in court on Thursday with theft in dwelling, which carries a jail term of up to seven years and a fine.
