A fire broke out in a flat at Block 303 Woodlands Street 31 on Monday afternoon (May 8).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the incident at around 2.50pm, it said in a Facebook post.

SCDF added: "The fire, which involved the contents of a bedroom in a fourth-floor unit, was extinguished by firefighters from Woodlands Fire Station using a water jet."

Three occupants from the affected unit evacuated prior to SCDF's arrival.

A cat was found in the flat's living room by firefighters and brought out to safety, while about 30 residents from the affected block were evacuated by the police as a precautionary measure.

SCDF also said one person from the affected block was assessed by a paramedic for breathlessness and taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
