A tweet by Rio Ferdinand has got Singaporeans and Indonesians arguing heatedly over the origins of Nasi Goreng, with each country's citizens trying to claim it as their own.
The retired footballer, former England and Manchester United defender, was in Singapore for the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix, according to The Straits Times.

His tweet, which implied that Nasi Goreng originated from Singapore, had Indonesians jumping to defend the dish, responding that it was actually Indonesian food.
Commenters said:
"If you want the real nasi goreng and satay... Please come to Indonesia", and "there's no 'nasi' and 'goreng' in Singapore."
Singaporeans, meanwhile, have rebutted that it was a dish originating from all three Southeast Asian countries -- Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.
One user, Voldemort Putin, threw the most epic shade:
"Ohhh, Nasi Goreng can claim but haze cannot".
Burn.
