Is this spoiling Singapore's good name as a food paradise?

A diner was left extremely disappointed by his meal at Changi Airport's Terminal 4 on the evening of Jan 4.

Stomper JD said he had visited Old Street Bak Kut Teh with a friend, where the measly food portions did not justify the restaurant's high prices.

He recounted: "We ordered one dry bak kut teh and one soup bak kut teh, and thought it would be good to have some greens and beancurd as side dishes.

"I saw on the menu that the tau pok was $6.90 and the tau kee was $9.10, but thought the bowl was for a large portion of those dishes.

"When the waitress placed our dishes on the table, both my friend and I were flabbergasted at the tiny bowls the tau pok and tau kee were in!"

JD, who paid $75.06 for the meal after GST and service charge, shared a photo of the tau kee next to his car key "for scale".

The Stomper added: "It was even smaller than the bowl of rice beside it!"

"I called the waitress back to clarify and she said affirmed that this was their normal portion of beancurd.

"If you are a tourist and want to use up your remaining Singapor dollars (SGD) before your flight, do come to Old Street Bak Kut Teh at Changi Airport's Terminal 4 to finish it up.

"In all honesty, the meal wasn't bad tasting, but the portions were absolutely not worth the price... which left a bad taste in our mouths.

"I'm not a big eater by any means but I had to go to Bakery Cuisine after that to get a waffle to snack on (P.S. if you like chewy and fragrant waffles, they do a rather splendid rendition of it)."
