Blast from the past: See how SAF deals with 100kg high explosive bomb found at Mandai

A 100kg bomb from World Was II was found at a construction site in Mandai on Sat (Oct 8).

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) posted pictures and a video on their Facebook page, regarding their discovery on Oct 8 and 9 respectively.

Their first post stated, "A 7-men Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from our Army's Chemical Biological Radiological Explosive Defence Group (CBRE DG) was activated and it was assessed to be a Type 94 HIgh Explosive aerial bomb.

"Two hours ago, the war relic was successfully disposed by our team of experts and here are snippets of the action!

"Stay tuned for more if you want to find out how it was like and see it go “boom”!

"Well done Soldiers, and thank you for keeping us safe!"

The post was made at 7:32pm which seems to imply that the bomb was disposed at around 5:32pm that day.

While in their second post, they talked about how it was a 'blast from the past for the EOD team' and how they feature 'exclusive behind-the scenes look' at 'how the bomb met its explosive end'.

They thank the soldiers for their dedication and professionalism once again.
