Do you have an inspiring story on a teacher who changed your life and helped you overcome great challenges you have faced? If you do, we want to hear your story!

To celebrate Teachers’ Day on August 31, we want to pay tribute to outstanding teachers who unlocked greatness in their students, in the inaugural Samsung-Stomp Inspiring Teachers Awards.

We are looking for teachers who made such a difference in your lives that you wish there is some way you could pay tribute to these unsung heroes.

We call on you, our readers, to nominate your inspiring teacher (current, past or retired) who has been critical in helping you overcome your personal struggles in school or in life, to achieve what you thought was impossible. He or she has driven you for a larger vision, enabling and empowering you to become the best version of yourself.

Your story will be featured on the Stomp website, so there might be a possibility of you being reunited with your long-lost teacher. So do share your story with us!

Samsung will reward the 10 most inspiring nominations that are aligned with their values in driving for innovative solutions that let you do what you can't.

Top Story Reward: Samsung S9+ worth $1,348 each for the Teacher & Student, and their story will be featured in a video on The Straits Times website.   

Tokens of appreciation:

2 stories will each be rewarded with a Samsung Gear Sport worth $448 + Dining Voucher worth $100

7 stories will each be rewarded with a Dining Voucher worth $100.

 The contest opens on Aug 1, 2018 and will end on August 20, 2018 at 12am.

Here's how to enter:

1. Submit a write-up, telling us why your teacher is so inspiring to you OR

2. If you feel your story can be expressed in other ways, like through a video, drawing or even a song, you may submit those too.

3. All entries should include: 

a. Your full name (as in NRIC or Passport), contact number and date of birth (contestants below 13 years of age must obtain the written consent of their parent/ legal guardian to join the contest and must submit a copy of the consent to be considered for the contest).

b. The teacher's full name, contact number and name of the school the teacher taught you at (if available).

c. Photos of the teacher (if available).

*You must obtain the permission of the teacher before submitting his or her details and photos. If you have lost contact with the teacher or are unable to provide his or her contact details and photos, you may still share your inspiring teacher's story and be considered for one of the Tokens of Appreciation. Do note that for your submission to be eligible for the Top Reward, the teacher needs to be contactable by Stomp.

4. Email your entries to stomp@stomp.com.sg with the header 'Samsung-Stomp Inspiring Teachers Awards'.

Terms & Conditions:

1. This contest is organised by Singapore Press Holdings Limited (“Stomp”).
    

2. By submitting an entry, a contestant confirms that he or she has read and understood the terms and conditions herein, and accepts the said terms and conditions.
    

3. A contestant must be at least 13 years of age at the time of his or her submission to be eligible for this contest. Contestants below 13 years of age will only be considered if they provide Stomp with a copy of the written consent from their parent(s) or legal guardian(s).
    

4. All submissions must reach us latest by 12 am August 20, 2018 (Monday morning).
    

5. The top entry story will be featured in a video on The Straits Times website, Stomp, as well as Samsung’s channels including without limitation online platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. For the avoidance of doubt, Stomp and/or Samsung may (but is/are not obliged to) feature any story submitted hereunder on any of its channels in any format or media and in any part of the world.
    

6. In the event that a teacher receives more than one nomination, only one will be published, at the discretion of Stomp's editors.
    

7. Retired teachers are also eligible for nomination.
    

8. Stomp's editors reserve the right to edit the copy of entries as they deem fit.
    

9. The decisions by Stomp's editors and Samsung on matters related to the contest are final. We will not enter into any correspondence over the awarding of the prizes.
    

10. By submitting your story for this contest, you represent and warrant that your entry is original and has not been previously published, that you possess the exclusive rights to the entry, and that the entry shall not infringe the intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other rights or interests of any third party. You further agree to Stomp and/or Samsung using your entry or any part thereof, in connection with this contest and/or for any promotional or marketing purposes of Samsung branding and/or products.
     

11. By submitting your story for this contest, you further represent and warrant that:

    (a) any and all personal data submitted for the purposes of this contest may be collected by, used by and/or disclosed to Stomp and/or its related corporations (“SPH Group”) and to Samsung for various purposes, including to communicate with you for purposes related to this contest, to provide goods and services to you upon request, and such other purposes the SPH Group and/or Samsung may reasonably deem appropriate, or for such purposes that you may have otherwise given your consent to;

    (b) the SPH Group, its authorised service providers and its advertising and promotion agencies may collect, use and/or disclose your personal data for purposes indicated in the SPH privacy policy, a copy of which is located at http://sph.com.sg/legal/sph_privacy.html, and for purposes which include the sending of marketing information on products, services, promotions and/or events offered by the SPH Group and/or third parties; and

    (c) Samsung, its authorised service providers and its advertising and promotion agencies may collect, use and/or disclose your personal data for purposes indicated in the Samsung privacy policy, a copy of which is located at www.samsung.com/sg/info/privacy.html.
     

12. Prizes must be claimed personally with proof of identification provided at time of entry. In the event of any discrepancy between the entry received and the documents produced for verification, the entry will be deemed as disqualified and the prize forfeited. Unless otherwise stated in writing, neither Stomp nor Samsung makes any representations or warranties in relation to this contest or the prizes and all implied warranties including but not limited to the implied warranties of satisfactory quality, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose of any of the prizes are excluded.
     

13. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and non-cash prizes cannot be exchanged for cash. Stomp and Samsung accept no responsibility for any tax or other liability that may arise from the prize winnings. Prizes are subject to availability and Stomp and/or Samsung have the right to substitute any prize for a comparable prize of equal or greater value to be awarded in lieu, subject to any applicable law.
     

14. These contest terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Singapore law.
