Woman in S'pore 'Uber'-shocked after getting charged $800 for a ride -- in New York

Imagine a woman's shock when she was charged US$572.46 (about S$803) for a ride -- which was not even in Singapore.

Stomper Wee alerted Stomp to her friend's charge for an Uber ride on Nov 24.

Wee's friend posted on Facebook that her Uber account was hacked, leading to a charge of US$574.46 in New York City at 7pm that evening.

Her puzzled friends asked where she went, and she replied, "That scumbag was in New York! I'm in Singapore!"

She has since cancelled her card and wrote in to Uber.

Her incident also prompted her friends to change their passwords.
