Workers seen asking for their wages in a photo that has gone viral online were from a sub-contractor and not from Lian Beng Construction, the company told Stomp in a statement.
Stompers had alerted Stomp to the circulated image that shows four construction workers, each holding a piece of white paper that together reads: "I want wages".
As a signboard that displayed 'Lian Beng Construction (1988) Pte Ltd" was visible in the picture, many netizens believed that the workers were from the said firm.
Additionally, a video posted by All Singapore Stuff's Facebook page on Monday (Aug 28) had a caption that said the workers were in a "protest after not getting pay".

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesman for parent company Lian Beng Group said on Tuesday (Aug 28): "The workers were from a sub-contractor, not from Lian Beng.
"The incident took place at the end of May 2018, and has already been resolved."
