BMW with 3 kids as 'tank commanders' spark concern

Videos and photos of children standing and sticking their heads out of the sunroof of a moving BMW have been circulating online and sparking concern among netizens.

Singapore Road Vigilante posted a video showing the children enjoying the breeze on their faces as the white BMW travels along a road.

According to the caption, several motorists have spotted and reported the incident for the safety of the children.

"Spotted with not one, not two but up to 3 tank commanders," the caption says.

ROADS.sg also shared photos of the children on its Facebook page.

Under the Road Traffic Act, it's illegal for anyone under the height of 1.35m, regardless of age, to be unsecured.

Passengers below that height must be secured in child restraints, booster seats or adjustable seat belts while travelling in a vehicle.

First-time offenders can be fined up to $1,000 or jailed up to three months.
