7 crocodiles spotted at Sungei Buloh: Warning signs posted at areas where they are most seen, says NParks

The National Parks Board (NParks) has responded to a recent crocodile sighting by a visitor at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.

Stomper Gerald had earlier shared how he spotted seven crocodiles at the reserve on Monday morning (Feb 1) and photographed one of them 'sunbathing'.

While awed by being so close to nature's wonders, Gerald also said: "As a safety precaution (for both us and the crocs), perhaps the authorities should put up signs at the entrance to the park too. Better awareness, better safety."

In response to a Stomp query, Ms Yang Shufen, Director of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve at NParks, said: "Estuarine crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus) have been spotted within the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, and they are usually found in the water or at the mudflats away from the visitor routes.

"Warning signs and advisory notices have been posted at areas where crocodiles are most often seen, and visitors should heed these signs and keep to designated paths.

Should visitors encounter a crocodile, they should stay calm and back away slowly. They should not approach, provoke, or feed the animal. If they need help, they should call the Wetland Reserve Information Counter (Tel: 6794 1401) immediately."
