SCDF called in to The Pinnacle@Duxton -- but it turns out to be false alarm

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was seen at Block 1E of The Pinnacle @ Duxton yesterday (Nov 8) at about 9.10pm.

A Stomper, who is a resident of the block, sent Stomp a picture of the incident and said that the fire alarm started blaring at about 8.55pm.

The Stomper was at home when he heard the alarm and decided to leave the building as a precaution.

According to him, the lifts of the block were shut down, so went down over 20 flights of stairs.

He saw a commotion and a fire brigade arriving, but did not know if there was a fire.

He said: "I did not see any smoke or flames anywhere. There was a small group of people downstairs, but other than that residents seemed to be coming home instead of leaving."

He waited at another block nearby, but no instruction was given.

He decided to go to the grocery store at about 9.25pm and did not know what happened after.

"I was concerned about my fellow residents as many people seemed to be too calm," the Stomper added.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp that it dispatched one fire engine, but there was no sign of smoke or a fire.

Stomp understands that the incident was a false alarm.
