Cold Storage told Stomp it has counselled one of its team members after a Stomper saw the woman using her bare hand to make sandwiches on Dec 4.

Stomper Sharonrocky told Stomp she was passing by the sandwich section of the supermarket at Fusionopolis at about 8.45am when she witnessed the incident.

"I was shocked," she said.

"I saw this staff member managing the sandwich section and wearing a glove on her left hand.

"However, she was touching the lettuce with her bare right hand!

"Food poisoning and contamination are common issues right now.

"I just want to create awareness."

In response to a Stomp query, a Cold Storage spokesman said that they have investigated the matter.

"We view such matters very seriously as we take pride in strictly upholding ourselves to the established food safety guidelines," the spokesman said.

"Based on your tip, we have done a thorough investigation into this matter and have counselled the identified team member in question.

"We would also like to share that this team member will be undergoing a food health and safety training on food handling procedures before returning to work."

"Again, we thank you as well as your concerned reader, for sharing this with us for our immediate attention."
