Bedroom catches fire in Pasir Ris Street 12 flat, about 20 people evacuated

About 20 people were evacuated after an HDB flat caught fire in Block 198 Pasir Ris Street 12 on Saturday night (Sept 10).

Photos and a video shared by Stomper CCK showed flames coming out of a flat on a high floor and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles at the scene.

Videos posted online show a small crowd of people on the ground floor around the block.

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at about 10.45pm.

"The fire involved contents of a bedroom in a unit on the 10th floor," said SCDF.

"SCDF extinguished the fire using one water jet. About 20 people self-evacuated prior to SCDF's arrival."

There were no reported casualties and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
