Underage driver arrested at Ghim Moh Rd after high-speed chase with police officers

A 17-year-old boy was arrested for driving without a valid licence yesterday (Jun 7) at 3.47am.

Stomper Didi alerted Stomp to the incident as she knew the boy from her group of friends.

According to Didi, he took his grandfather's Toyota Corolla Altis for a joyride with his 16-year-old girlfriend.

"He parked at Block 3 Ghim Moh Road before he saw a police officer turning into the carpark.

"He quickly sped off and the police officer gave chase.

"Despite being chased, he continued to drive and tried to escape by beating the red lights."

In response to Stomp media queries, a police spokesperson said:

"On 7 June 2017 at 3.47am, the police were alerted to a case of driving without valid licence at 18 Ghim Moh Road.

"The car driver was arrested in relation to the case.

"Police investigations are ongoing."
