Stomper Chee Kiang was among one of the first few to experience travelling in the new trains plying the North-South Line.

Together with members of the public and Friends of SMRT, a group of enthusiasts who share a strong passion for public transport, the Stomper boarded the train at Ang Mo Kio Station on Sunday morning (Apr 16) towards Jurong East.

Said the Stomper:

"I was happy to be one of the first few to ride the train because I was excited to see the new features.

"I had a joyful ride and there were a lot of people taking pictures and videos of the LCD panel with LED lights."

While the 57 new trains are fitted with a new signalling system, they also come equipped with new features including LCD information display boards and LED lights.

Located above the train doors, the LCD display boards provide valuable information like places of interest and landmarks near the MRT station, as well as safety messages.

The new trains also come equipped with energy-saving LED lights and have designated spaces in the cabins for wheelchair users.
