Opposition party veteran Sin Kek Tong dies at age 72

Opposition party veteran Sin Kek Tong has died.

He was 72 years old, and passed on Monday (Feb 27) at 10.30am, reports Lianhe Zaobao

Sin is survived by his wife, a son, two daughters and three grandchildren. 

Sin, joined the general election back in 1988, and last took part in 2011, when he contested as the Chairman of Singapore Progressive Party (SPP) with Dr Amy Khor Lean Suan, the current Senior Minister of State, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources & Ministry of Health, and lost. 

He was also the SPP’s founding secretary and stepped down as the chairman in 2012 on medical grounds.
