Floating body of 87-year-old man retrieved from Kallang River

A 87-year-old man was found motionless in the waters of Kallang River yesterday afternoon (May 24) and was subsequently pronounced dead by paramedics.

Stomper Desmond saw Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) retrieving the floating body and contributed photos of the incident.

In response to queries by Stomp, the Police said they were alerted to a case of unnatural death at Kallang River at around 12.30pm and investigations are ongoing.

A spokesperson for the SCDF also told Stomp: "A body was found in the water and was manually retrieved by SCDF. The man was pronounced dead at scene by SCDF paramedics."
