Fire breaks out in 4th storey unit at Palm Gardens Condominium

A fire broke out at the Palm Gardens condominium at 2 Hong San Walk today (May 7) at around 1.30pm.

Stomper Kevin who witnessed the incident alerted Stomp to the fire, and sent in photos and a video. 

According to Kevin, officers from the SCDF were already at the scene when he arrived at 2pm.

The fire alarm had sounded and thick billows of smoke were emitted from a unit on the 4th floor. 

From the video Kevin took, SCDF officers were also seen using a water hose to cool down the burning unit from the ground level, while their colleagues entered the house to put out the fire.

Said Kelvin:

“Fortunately, no one was hurt.

“Some people were still swimming in the pool, oblivious to the fire.”

The SCDF has issued an official statement on the incident:

“The SCDF were alerted to a case of fire at 2 Hong San Walk on May 7, 2017, at 1.30pm.

“The fire involved the contents of a bedroom and the fire was extinguished by the SCDF using a waterjet.

“There were no reports of injuries.

“Approximately 20 people self evacuated before the SCDF’s arrival.”
