Amidst the dreariness of working in an office for hours on end, workers in the Central Business District were treated to a classical music performance on Tuesday (Mar 21) -- at the Urban Redevelopment Authority's Piano Park.

Stomper SK2 was running an errand in town on Tuesday afternoon when she chanced upon a violinist performing Partita and Suite, by composer Johann Sebastian Bach.

Said the Stomper:

“I have never heard such a pure, refined and awesome performance of Bach played outdoor.

“The performer was a lady working at the URA who made time to share her love of music with the public during lunch time.

“Her name is Joyce Ng, and her solo performance was so effortless, calm, sincere, profound and poised. It had depth and the tone was heavenly.

The Stomper added that Joyce’s performance was part of a global movement of musicians paying tribute to the German composer.

The movement, known as ‘Bach in the Subways’, began as an act of musical giving by a single musician in New York City in 2010.

It is held annually from 18 to 21 March to commemorate Bach’s birthday.

According to their website, 19 musicians registered to perform at the Piano Park this year.
