46-year-old S'porean woman dies of altitude sickness in Nepal: Report

A Singaporean woman died of altitude sickness at Lobuche in Khumjung area of Solukhumbu on Friday, according to news reports in Nepal.

The Kathmandu Post reported that the deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Amy Ong Kumling.

According to the report, she had arrived a small village near Mount Everest named Lobouche on Thursday (May 25).

The article stated that she was set to to take part in the Everest Marathon to be held on May 29.

According to the District Police Office, Solukhumbu, she died at her hotel room on the Friday (May 26) morning.

The report also stated that preparations were underway to send her body to Kathmandu for postmortem.

In a Facebook post, a user named Dennis Quek said that Amy had succumbed to altitude sickness (AMS).
