A driver was caught on video using his phone while driving in the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) tunnel on Friday (Oct 30) at 11.57am.

Stomper Raj was in the passenger seat of his friend's car when he noticed that a driver was using his phone while driving.

He took a video of what he saw and shared it with Stomp.

"Sometimes I see other drivers texting while driving too," Raj said.

"It is so unsafe."

Under the Road Traffic Act, a driver of a vehicle who holds in his hand a mobile communication device and operates any of its communicative or other functions while the vehicle is in motion on a road or in a public place is guilty of an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to both.

This is not the first time Stompers have spotted drivers texting while driving.

Just last week, a driver was also seen using his phone while driving along the MCE.
