A tree fell on a lorry at Horne Road near Lavender MRT station during a downpour on Wednesday morning (Oct 5).

No injuries were reported.

Sharing a photo and a video of the incident, Stomper Kuek was driving on Penhas Road before turning left into Horne Road and saw the tree blocking the road between Kitchener Complex and BH Building.

He told Stomp that he had to reverse his car and go by another route.

In response to a Stomp query, the National Parks Board (NParks) said that it was alerted to a fallen yellow flame tree at around 7.20am during a heavy and intense rainfall brought about by a Sumatra Squall.

The obstruction was cleared by 10am.

NParks added that the annual number of tree incidents has decreased from about 3,100 cases in 2001 to around 470 last year with an average of around 400 cases reported annually since 2019.

The National Environment Agency said that in the first half of this month, thundery showers can be expected between the morning and early afternoon on most days.
