Woman injured after fire breaks out at incense shop along Soon Lee Street

A woman was sent to hospital for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in a shop at an industrial area along Soon Lee Street in the Pioneer area at around 9.35am today (Jun 29).

Stomper Wee Leong alerted Stomp to what happened and sent in some photos of the incident. 

The photos show smoke coming out from the shop as SCDF personnel were making their way into the premises to put out the fire. 

Said an SCDF spokesman in response to a Stomp query:

"SCDF was alerted at about 9.35am and dispatched two fire engines, two red rhinos, two firebikes, one ambulance and one support vehicle to 5 Soon Lee Street.

"The fire, which involved contents within a shop, was extinguished by the sprinkler system and by SCDF using 1 waterjet.

"About 40 persons self-evacuated from the premises.

"One female Chinese in her 50s was conveyed to SGH for smoke inhalation.

"The cause of fire is under investigation."
