Woman arrested in relation to series of love scams after bank finds irregularities of $41,000

A 44-year-old woman was arrested for her suspected involvement in a series of love scams.

In a statement, the police said that on Oct 25, a bank staff at White Sands Shopping Centre alerted them to a potential scam transaction involving $41,000.

Officers from Bedok Police Division then established that a 29-year-old victim’s bank account had been used to hold proceeds of crime from a love scam.

With extensive probes and investigative enquiries, the 44-year-old suspect was identified and arrested on the same day.

Police investigations are ongoing.

If convicted of the offence of dishonestly receiving stolen property, the suspect could be jailed up to five years and fined, or both.
