Woman, 34, arrested for providing sexual services at residential unit in Katong

A 34-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly providing sexual services in a residential unit along Seraya Lane in Katong.

The police said in a statement on Thursday (Sep 30) that officers from Bedok Police Division conducted an anti-vice enforcement operation at the said location on Wednesday (Sep 29).

Preliminary investigations revealed she had committed an offence under the Women's Charter. Condoms were seized as case exhibits.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Under the Women's Charter, any person who keeps, manages, or assists in the management of a place of assignation shall be guilty of an offence and shall face a fine of up to $100,000, up to five years' jail, or both.

In the case of a second or subsequent conviction, persons are liable to a fine of up to $150,000, up to seven years' jail, or both.

Property owners are advised to ensure that tenants do not carry out vice activities in their premises.

Those who knowingly allow their premises to be used for vice-related activities will be prosecuted under the Women’s Charter and shall face a fine of up to $100,000, up to five years' jail, or both.

Repeat offenders can be fined up to $150,000, jailed up to seven years, or both.

"The police will continue to take tough enforcement action against criminal activities," the statement said.

"Those found engaging in illicit activities will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law."
