A pair of wild boars were spotted roaming in an open field near Anchorvale Crescent on Thursday (Aug 30) at about 2pm.

Stomper Chia, who lives nearby, was concerned when she spotted them.

"I took photos of the wild boars at the open field beside where I stay", she said in a phone interview with Stomp.

"My concern is if the wild boars may infiltrate into the residential areas and steal our food."

Stomper Andora was also surprised to spot a pair of wild boars grazing at an open field at Sengkang East Road behind Vales Condo on Tuesday morning (Sep 5) at about 10am.

In response to an earlier media query from Stomp where a lone wild boar was spotted near Nanyang Technological University, the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) issued a public advisory to those who come into contact with wild boars:

"AVA advises the public not to approach, disturb, feed or try to catch any wildlife.

"We urge the public to keep a safe distance from all wild boars and avoid confronting or cornering the animals.

"Do not interact with the animal, and ensure that young children and pets are kept away as they may be curious and approach it.

"The public can refer to the advisory on wild boars on AVA’s website and contact us at 1800 476 1600 to provide feedback or request for assistance."

According to NParks, this is what you should do when you encounter wild boars:

Be calm and move slowly away from the animal. Do not approach or attempt to feed the animal.

Keep a safe distance and do not corner or provoke the animal i.e. by using a flash while taking pictures of it.

If you see adults with young piglets, leave them alone. These are potentially more dangerous because they may attempt to defend their young.
